Introduction to Acpid

The Advanced Configuration & Power Interface Daemon (ACPID) is a flexible and totally extensible daemon for responding to ACPI events. It listens to /proc/acpi/event and executes programs to handle the events when they occur. The programs it executes are configured through a set of configuration files.

Configuring

Bootscript

Create the bootscript:

cat > /etc/rc.d/init.d/acpid << "EOF"
#!/bin/sh
# Begin $rc_base/init.d/acpid

. /etc/sysconfig/rc
. ${rc_functions}

case "${1}" in
        start)
                boot_mesg "Starting acpid..."
                loadproc /usr/sbin/acpid
                ;;

        stop)
                boot_mesg "Stopping acpid..."
                killproc /usr/sbin/acpid
                ;;

        restart)
                ${0} stop
                sleep 1
                ${0} start
                ;;

        status)
                statusproc /usr/sbin/acpid
                ;;

        *)
                echo "Usage: ${0} {start|stop|restart|status}"
                exit 1
                ;;
esac

# End $rc_base/init.d/acpid
EOF
chmod -v 754 /etc/rc.d/init.d/acpid

Link it into the runlevels:

for link in /etc/rc.d/rc{{0,1,6}.d/K32,{2,3,4,5}.d/S18}acpid; do
  ln -sfv ../init.d/acpid $link;
done
