Introduction to Parted

Parted is a package that provides utilities for creating, destroying, resizing, checking and copying partitions and the file systems on the partitions. Parted provides a command-line interface that also serves as a sample implementation and script backend. The library allow the use of a GUI, such as GParted or QTParted, for the front end to parted.

Note

The version of HAL currently provided by CBLFS is 0.5.14. This version of HAL supports 1.7.1, 1.8.0, 1.8.1, 1.8.2, 1.8.6 or 1.8.7.

Configuration Information

If you would like to build Parted with device-mapper support then add the following to configure:

--enable-device-mapper

Non-Multilib

Compile the package:

./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-Werror &&
make

Install the package

make install

Multilib

32Bit

Compile the package:

CC="gcc ${BUILD32}" ./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-Werror &&
make

Install the package

make install

N32

Compile the package:

CC="gcc ${BUILDN32}" ./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-Werror \
    --libdir=/usr/lib32 &&
make

Install the package

make install

64Bit

Compile the package:

CC="gcc ${BUILD64}" ./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-Werror \
    --libdir=/usr/lib64 &&
make

Install the package

make install
