Introduction to Portmap
The portmap package is a more secure replacement for the original SUN portmap package. Portmap is used to forward RPC requests to RPC daemons such as NFS and NIS.

Dependencies
Required
Creating the bin User
Portmap runs as a daemon with a uid of 1 which is not configurable.
useradd -u 1 -g 1 -d /dev/null -s /bin/false bin
Non-Multilib
Compile the package:
make
Install the package
make install
Multilib
This package does not provide any libraries so only one installation is needed.
64Bit
Compile the package:
make CC="gcc ${BUILD64}"
Install the package
make install
Configuring
Bootscript
Install the init script provided by the bootscripts package:
make install-portmap
