Introduction to Usbutils

The usbutils package contains a utility used to display information about USB buses in the system and the devices connected to them.

Dependencies

Required

Non-Multilib

Compile the package:

sed -i 's|DEST=|&/usr/share/|' update-usbids.sh &&
./configure --prefix=/usr &&
make

Install the package

make install &&
install -v -m755 update-usbids.sh /usr/sbin/update-usbids

Command Explanations

sed -i '...' update-usbids.sh: This command modifies the download script so that it will replace the existing file in /usr/share instead of the one in the current directory.

Multilib

This package does not provide any libraries so only one installation is needed.

32Bit

Compile the package:

sed -i 's|DEST=|&/usr/share/|' update-usbids.sh &&
CC="gcc ${BUILD32}" ./configure --prefix=/usr &&
make

Install the package

make install &&
