Introduction to FontForge

FontForge allows you to edit outline and bitmap fonts. You may create new ones or modify old ones. It is also a format converter and can interconvert between PostScript (ascii & binary Type1, some Type3, some Type0), TrueType, OpenType (Type2), CID, SVG.

Download the FreeType source and extract it into the FontForge source directory before configuring the package.

Non-Multilib

Compile the package:

./configure --prefix=/usr --with-freetype-src=$PWD/freetype-2.4.12 &&
make

Install the package

make install

Multilib

32Bit

Compile the package:

CC="gcc ${BUILD32}" USE_ARCH=32 ./configure --prefix=/usr \
   --with-freetype-src=$PWD/freetype-2.1.10 &&
make

Install the package

make install

N32

Compile the package:

CC="gcc ${BUILDN32}" USE_ARCH=n32 ./configure --prefix=/usr \
   --libdir=/usr/lib32 --with-freetype-src=$PWD/freetype-2.4.12 &&
make

Install the package

make install

64Bit

Compile the package:

CC="gcc ${BUILD64}" USE_ARCH=64 ./configure --prefix=/usr \
   --libdir=/usr/lib64 --with-freetype-src=$PWD/freetype-2.4.12 &&
make

make install
