Introduction to GNOME Virtual File System

GnomeVFS is the virtual filesystem abstraction library used as the foundations for GNOME.

Note

While several packages still depend on GNOME VFS, it is deprecated for new development. GVFS is the replacement package.

Compile the package: 

./configure --prefix=${GNOME_PREFIX} --sysconfdir=/etc/gnome \
    --libexecdir=${GNOME_PREFIX}/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0 \
    --enable-cdda --enable-daemon &&
make

Install the package 

make install

If your ${GNOME_PREFIX} is anything other then /usr create a link so modules from other packages can be found: 

ln -sfv ${GNOME_PREFIX}/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0 /usr/lib

Multilib

32Bit

Compile the package: 

CC="gcc ${BUILD32}" PKG_CONFIG_PATH="${PKG_CONFIG_PATH32}" USE_ARCH=32 \
./configure --prefix=${GNOME_PREFIX} --sysconfdir=/etc/gnome \
    --libexecdir=${GNOME_PREFIX}/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0 \
    --enable-cdda --enable-daemon &&
make

Install the package 

make install

If your ${GNOME_PREFIX} is anything other then /usr create a link so modules from other packages can be found: 

ln -sfv ${GNOME_PREFIX}/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0 /usr/lib

N32

Compile the package: 

CC="gcc ${BUILDN32}" PKG_CONFIG_PATH="${PKG_CONFIG_PATHN32}" USE_ARCH=n32 \
./configure --prefix=${GNOME_PREFIX} --sysconfdir=/etc/gnome \
    --libexecdir=${GNOME_PREFIX}/lib32/gnome-vfs-2.0 \
    --libdir=/usr/lib32 --enable-cdda --enable-daemon &&
make

Install the package 

make install

If your ${GNOME_PREFIX} is anything other then /usr create a link so modules from other packages can be found: 

ln -sfv ${GNOME_PREFIX}/lib32/gnome-vfs-2.0 /usr/lib32

64Bit

Compile the package:

Install the package 

make install
