Introduction to Pmount
pmount is a wrapper around the standard mount program which permits normal users to mount removable devices without a matching /etc/fstab entry.

Configuration Information
--enable-hal: build pmount-hal frontend. |
Non-Multilib
Compile the package:
./configure --prefix=/usr && make
Install the package:
make install
Multilib
This package does not provide any libraries so only one installation is required.
32Bit
Compile the package:
CC="gcc ${BUILD32}" ./configure --prefix=/usr && make
Install the package:
make install
N32
Compile the package:
CC="gcc ${BUILDN32}" ./configure --prefix=/usr \ --libdir=/usr/lib32 && make
Install the package:
make install
64Bit
Compile the package:
CC="gcc ${BUILD64}" ./configure --prefix=/usr \ --libdir=/usr/lib64 && make
Install the package:
make install
Configuring
Add a list of devices to /etc/pmount.allow that non-root users can mount.
echo /media/cdrom >> /etc/pmount.allow && echo /media/dvd >> /etc/pmount.allow && echo /media/thumbdrive >> /etc/pmount.allow
